Hello and welcome fro me. I am a collector, no that's putting it too fine, I'm a hoarder and accumulator of transport books, magazines and ephemera. It all started many years ago in the age of steam, when with my friends, I would rush from school ( I lived in North London at the time) to the footpath overlooking the main line from King's Cross to the North, and ultimately Edinburgh to 'bag' the afternoon express to Scotland, hopefully in the charge of one of Sir Nigel Gresley's iconic streamlined class A4 Pacifics. The interest has continued and widened on and off over the years so now I have quite a collection, in fact far too much for the available space. I had been selling it on ebay, with some success, but the ever-increasing fees have now made that unviable, especially for the less valuable but still interesting items, so I have closed my shop and just list occassionally there now.

I have chosen this venue not just because the low fees enable me to offer a wide range from my collection, but also the unique nature of the site, with its emphasis on collectables of all types and moderated auctions, which give a greater reassurance to buyers, makes it ideal for the sorts of things that I am interested in. At present I only have about 50 items listed, but more will be steadily added as time permits, so do please keep looking to see what's new; I will also add links to anything that is a bit out of the ordinary.

ReplyDeleteYou are right too that Specialist Auctions does offer buyer protection that ebay never did, even in the early days.
It isn't just an 'alternative to ebay' it is BETTER than ebay. Congrats on your super new blog.
One tip - change your title to 'specialistauctions.com' then it will come up in peoples searches more. Worked with mine, you might consider adding a counter, easy peasy, and if I can do it, a 5 year old could.
